The story so far
Olive is a greyhound folded in half and kept in a pocket. She trembles at thunder, at the vacuum, at a dropped spoon — and then, with no warning, hits forty miles an hour across the living room for reasons she will not disclose. The trembling and the sprinting are, she insists, unrelated.

She has claimed the space beneath the good blanket as sovereign territory. Entry requires an invitation; the invitation is a whine of a specific pitch. The family has learned the pitch.
