“They say Vesper's tea is red for a reason, and the reason is sitting in the third row of every salon, pretending not to listen.”
The Wilderness
“Beautiful nightmares, built to be loved.”
Before there was fear, there was only the dark — and the dark was lonely. So it dreamed: a court for the hungry aristocrats of hunger, a brood for the hunger without manners, a pack for the moon-changed, a circle for the bargain-makers, a theater for the twice-born, a shore for the drowned, a manse for the unquiet, and pits for the contractual. Eight factions of beautiful nightmares, all living under one long night.
The nightmares have rules, because anything that lives together needs them: the Court may not hunt the Pack's cubs; the Circle's bargains must be honored to the letter, which is worse than you think; the Drowned may keep what the tide brings them, and the tide brings them plenty; the Hollow may haunt anyone, but only between dusk and dawn, out of politeness. The Stitched fix what the others break. The Horned witness every contract. And over it all — or under it — the First Night remembers being dark before anything had eyes.
And Joe walks here too, curious as ever, lantern in hand, completely unbothered. The nightmares have learned not to startle him. He never sells anything. He only points — and keeps walking, because the night is long and there is so much to see.
The unsolved mystery: the First Night — older than fear itself, dark before anything had eyes to see the dark. Every faction tells a different story about what it wants. The Veilwarden's census has a page for it with no name, only a date: before. Some things are not collected. Some things are only remembered.
The Factions
The Crimson Court
Eternity is a long dinner.
Vampire aristocrats of the obsidian manse — three hundred years of perfecting the bow, the toast, and the terrible hunger underneath. Valdis sets the table; everyone else minds their manners.
Explore the faction →The Ashen Brood
The hunger without the manners.
Feral vampires and ghouls of the outer dark — the court's cast-offs, gone wild in the ruins. The Gravefather keeps them fed just enough to keep them loyal.
Explore the faction →The Moonfall Pack
Run together or not at all.
Werewolves of the high moors — they run the ridgelines every full moon and guard the passes the rest of the month. The Dreadalpha's howl is law; the pack's loyalty is the other law.
Explore the faction →The Hexen Circle
Careful what you wish aloud.
Warlocks and witches of the crooked tower — they trade in bargains, bottles, and bad ideas. The Hexmother has granted eleven thousand wishes; she counts the regrets, not the thanks.
Explore the faction →The Stitched
Secondhand, second chance.
Reanimated flesh-golems of the old anatomy theater — built from borrowed parts and stubborn will. The Firstborn was assembled from eleven donors and remembers all eleven birthdays.
Explore the faction →The Drowned
The tide keeps what it takes.
The drowned dead of the sunken fleet — sailors, sirens, and things that were never sailors, walking the black shore. The Drowned King collects ships the way others collect stamps.
Explore the faction →The Hollow
We never left.
Ghosts and specters of the gray manse — the dead who declined to depart, haunting out of habit, spite, or unfinished love letters. The Veilwarden keeps the census of the unquiet.
Explore the faction →The Horned
Sign here. And here.
Demons of the ember pits — courteous, contractual, and completely literal about fine print. The Archfiend has never broken a deal; read that sentence again, slowly.

He doesn’t belong to this universe — he belongs to the spaces between them. But he walks here all the same, curious as ever. He’ll keep you company while you look around. He never sells anything. He only points.
“The old ones say: the eye never forgets what the heart has seen. Choose with your heart; the lore can wait. But keep your eyes open — I hide in the best places.”
