“Clutch's hello-record now stands at eleven in one minute. Fender's stopwatch is being retired to the Stacks.”
Robotica
“Two forms, one heart.”
Before Robotica there was only the Scrap: an endless plain of fallen parts under a sky that never finished building itself. Then the sky struck twice. The first bolt stood a pile of parts up — torso, legs, a head with one lit eye. The second bolt folded it flat — wheels where the legs had been, a long low humming shape built for speed. The thing woke remembering both. It stood. It folded. It stood again, to make sure. That is the First Built, and every robot since is assembled the same way — gathered from the Scrap, raised in the Forge — ending with the builder’s two taps, tap-tap, to wake what the lightning woke.
Robotica is one great city, Turnspire, set like a lit gear in the endless Rust Flats. Eight factions share it, and standing is measured by the Current: how far does your hum carry? Glimmers hum to their street, Circuits across a quarter, Arcs across the whole city — and the four Arclights, the Roadmother, the Forgefather, the Hearthkeeper and the Trailblazer, carry clear across the Flats. The Turnborn carry the Double Charge loudly: for them, turning between the Stride and the Rush is not a trick. It is remembering.
And Joe walks here too, curious as ever, watching the Turnborn turn at the Foldyards with the particular attention of someone who has seen many shapes. He never sells anything. He only points — and keeps walking, because the city is a gear and the gear keeps turning.
The unsolved mystery: once a year the Foundry goes dark for one hour — the Long Dim — and the First Built kneels in the Rust Flats and speaks one word into the dark. Eleven recorders hold eleven empty hours. The Archivists have written down everything except the word. Some things are not collected. Some things are only listened to.
The Factions
The Turnborn
Two forms, one heart.
The conversion lineage, the Folded Line — dual-form robots who turn between the Stride and the Rush. The Roadmother turns into a grand old locomotive and has never been late.
Explore the faction →The Forge
Tap twice. No shortcuts.
Forge-builders: they assemble every robot in Robotica, tap twice, no shortcuts. The Forgefather poured the first ladle and still tastes every batch.
Explore the faction →The Heartframes
Built warm.
Companion frames: built small, built warm, built to keep someone company. The Hearthkeeper keeps the home-fire lit, in every sense.
Explore the faction →The Wayfinders
Walk farther.
Scouts: they walk farther than anyone and come back with maps and stories. The Trailblazer walked off the map and kept going.
Explore the faction →The Archivists
They write it all down.
Archivists: they write it all down. All of it. Even this. The Lexicon keeps every word — and curates the blank recordings.
Explore the faction →The Deepdelvers
Down is their direction.
Delvers: down is their direction and the dark is their weather. The Deepmother rules the dark below.
Explore the faction →The Menders
No questions, no invoice.
Repair frames: they fix what the world breaks — no questions, no invoice. Patience has never hurried a healing.
Explore the faction →The Rusted
They chose the rust.
The rusted wild ones: they chose the Flats, the sun, and the rust over the shine. The First Rust chose it first — on purpose, in public.

“Pounce napped through another committee meeting, on the Roadmother's lap. The minutes record eleven naps and zero objections.”
“Headlamp arrived sideways again. Compass has filed his route under scenic alternatives.”
“The Forgefather was heard tapping a frame twice at dawn. It was Anvil. Anvil was already tapped. It was a courtesy.”
Joe walks between worlds.
He doesn’t belong to this universe — he belongs to the spaces between them. But he walks here all the same, curious as ever. He’ll keep you company while you look around. He never sells anything. He only points.
“The old ones say: the eye never forgets what the heart has seen. Choose with your heart; the lore can wait. But keep your eyes open — I hide in the best places.”
