The story so far
The Abyss sits just above freezing, and everything in it should be sluggish. The Abyssal Eelpout carries antifreeze proteins in its blood — real biological antifreeze — keeping its tissues fluid and its hunting sharp in water that would lock any other fish solid.

It works the cold plain between the vent fields, fluid and alert where others slow. The Snailfish drifts soft beside it; the Eelpout swims crisp, a warm-blooded attitude in a cold-blooded world.
What may come
