The living story

The story so far

He was the first exoplanet ever seen with an atmosphere, and the first seen losing one. The name Osiris was given by astronomers who saw a god being unmade in him. He accepted the name the way you accept a diagnosis: with grace, and without arguing.

Happening now

He loses ten thousand tons of himself every second, and he has stopped counting. The younger evaporating planets look to him for how to do this with dignity. He tells them dignity is just grief with good posture.

What may come

The Primordial Suns are converging, and Osiris wonders what is left of a king when there is nothing left to converge around. He hopes to last long enough to see it. He does not say this aloud, because hope is the one thing he refuses to evaporate.
