Digger dug his first tunnel at four weeks old. It collapsed. He dug it again. It collapsed. The third one held, and he has not stopped talking about it since — eleven years of tunnel talk. The town has heard the story four hundred times. The town lets him tell it. The third tunnel is still standing, which is more than most of us can say.
