Hazel eats hazelnuts with tiny perfect manners — pinkies out, crumbs managed — and falls asleep mid-nut, mid-sentence, mid-anything. She wakes up charming about it, which is the only reason the Thicket tolerates a diner who naps in the soup. The soup, she notes, is an excellent pillow.
