The story so far
She was born with a long neck and spear jaws in a family of weavers, and everyone assumed she'd take up web-building. Pelican chose assassination instead — tapping other spiders' webs in perfect mimicry, then striking. The family stopped asking questions.
Happening now
She is plucking a neighbor's web with a rhythm that says 'harmless moth, nothing to see here.' The neighbor believes it. The neighbor is wrong.
What may come
One day she will tap a web and find Portia on the other end — a genius who has been waiting for exactly this. Their duel will be discussed in the Night Silk for years. Nobody is betting against either of them.
