The story so far
No nest, no home — the colony IS the nest. Two hundred thousand army ants link bodies into a living bivouac each night and dissolve it each dawn, building bridges from themselves to cross gaps, raiding the forest floor in a swarm front that flushes everything ahead of it. Bivouac is the Devil's Garden's infrastructure made animate: the living bridges the other factions cross (for a toll of respect), the raid-fronts that keep the Garden's borders honest. They are terrifying and indispensable, and they know exactly which one you mean.
