The story so far
The kapok is the emergent giant of the Amazon — the tallest tree in the forest, rising above the canopy on buttress roots like the flying buttresses of a cathedral, thorn-studded in youth, smooth and grey-green in age. Skyhold was old when the Crown's first parliament perched in their branches, and will be old when the last one leaves. In faction politics the Crown looks down on all seven other factions and never lets them forget it — but Skyhold is the reason there's an 'up' to look down from. Reekwing's fermenting court and Stumpghost's silent watchers both hold their loudest debates in Skyhold's crown, and Skyhold has never once taken a side. 'The sky,' they say, 'is not a debater.'
