The story so far
Cupcake is perpetually eight weeks old in spirit, and the spirit is the whole dog. Her tail has two speeds — wagging and broken — and she greets every morning like it's the series premiere of the best day ever. It usually is. She has never been wrong about a morning.
Happening now
She has discovered the sprinkler and decided it is a personal friend who visits daily. The friendship is one-sided and magnificent. Cupcake now schedules her entire morning around the sprinkler's arrival, vibrating with anticipation by 7 a.m.
What may come
Cupcake will never age, not really. The body may slow, but the eight-week-old spirit is load-bearing and permanent. One day she'll greet her ten-thousandth morning like a premiere, and it will be.
