The story so far
Zuri is a painted wolf, and her pack is the most successful hunting pack in Africa — they vote on decisions by sneezing, which is democracy in action. Her mottled coat is one of a kind, like a fingerprint. Like a promise. She has never lost a hunt she led, and she leads most of them.
Happening now
The pack has a new litter, and Zuri has appointed herself their teacher — not their mother, their teacher. Lessons so far: how to sneeze-vote, how to share, and how not to get stepped on by elephants. The pups are excellent at the first two.
What may come
The rains are coming, and with them the great herds. Zuri has been ranging farther each dawn, mapping. She does her best thinking at a run.
