The story so far
Nana is the lifeguard. She has pulled three swimmers and one very surprised picnic table from the water, and she believes — with her whole enormous heart — that every child is her personal responsibility and every puddle is a training exercise. The children have stopped arguing. The puddles never stood a chance.
Happening now
Swim season is winding down, so Nana has expanded her jurisdiction to the bathtub, where she now supervises all baths with the intensity of a Coast Guard inspection. No child bathes unsupervised. This is the law. Nana is the law.
What may come
Nana will save someone again — it's not a question of if, it's a question of when, and she'll do it the way she does everything: calmly, completely, and then she'll shake lake water all over everyone as a victory lap.
