The living story
The story so far
Wrinkled like a worried philosopher, Rolo carries centuries of loose skin that was bred for dog fights and is now used exclusively for extra expressions. He frowns at strangers with total commitment and melts for his person with even more. The frown is load-bearing. Do not try to remove the frown.
Happening now
A new baby arrived in the extended family, and Rolo has been caught — twice — letting the baby grab his wrinkles with both fists while wearing an expression of profound philosophical resignation. The melting has begun. The frown remains for everyone else.
What may come
Rolo's wrinkles will deepen, his philosophy will sharpen, and his circle of trusted humans will expand by exactly one baby. The frown will outlive us all. It is structural.

The Ancients
Salukis who coursed with pharaohs, mastiffs who guarded monasteries, hairless dogs who guided the dead. They are polite about being older than your civilization. Barely.
