The living story
The story so far
The Tuareg's hunting dog, lean as a drawn bow. Sahara can see a hare move at a mile and considers furniture a rumor — she flows around it without acknowledging it. Elegant to the point of rudeness, affectionate to the point of surprise: the two modes have no transition, and she switches without warning.
Happening now
She has started sleeping pressed against the coldest window in the house, long nose tucked, impossibly thin legs folded like a closed fan. When the quiet daughter reads nearby, Sahara's tail thumps once — the entire affection budget, spent lavishly.
What may come
One day Sahara will run at full stretch across an open field, and everyone watching will understand what the Tuareg understood: this is not a dog running, this is a bowstring released. Then she'll come back and ignore the furniture again.

Why someone keeps Sahara
- because she's lean as a drawn bow and elegant to the point of rudeness
- because she sees hares at a mile and she saw you coming
- because her tail thumps once for the quiet ones, and that's everything
The Ancients
Salukis who coursed with pharaohs, mastiffs who guarded monasteries, hairless dogs who guided the dead. They are polite about being older than your civilization. Barely.
