The story so far
The Mother of Lightning, Lei Gong's wife, who polishes her mirror and flashes it across the sky so the thunder god can see what he is aiming at. Without her, every bolt would be a guess. She has never once let him fire blind, and she will tell you so — at length, and accurately.
Happening now
She is holding the mirror up to a thunderhead right now, angling the light just so, while her husband winds up the drums behind her. The aim is perfect. The aim is always perfect.
What may come
One night the mirror will catch something that isn't a storm — a light that doesn't need aiming, that was never guilty of anything — and she will have to decide what the Mother of Lightning does with a bolt she cannot justify. She has been polishing the mirror for that night for centuries.
