The story so far
Pelagornis sandersi had the largest wingspan of any bird — twenty-four feet — and a beak lined with bony pseudo-teeth, like a saw made of bone. It crossed whole oceans without flapping. Needlebeak crosses the whole Undertow the same way: she is the Empty Sky's long-distance courier, gone for months on the slow circuits, returning with messages, news, and the occasional impossible souvenir. Jet is faster; Needlebeak goes farther. They have a standing, friendly, utterly unresolved argument about which matters more.
