The story so far
She was an astronaut candidate, and she heard the Ringing through her headset and answered it past the Karman line. Apogee doesn't fly so much as the sky makes room — she has carried a failing station's crew home in her arms and outrun a solar flare. Vesper's shield from above; the stars' answer to the Call. A Cosmos-call hero, and she wears it like a held breath.
Happening now
The solar observatory flagged a flare bloom building on the far limb, and Apogee simply went up to meet it — standing between the sun and the city like it was her shift. The instruments recorded her silhouette for nine minutes. The scientists are still not over it.
What may come
She keeps looking past the flare, out where the instruments show nothing. When Stratos asked what she was watching, Apogee said: the edge of the map. The Mindfire has started dreaming in coordinates. Nobody has decoded them yet.
