The story so far
He was a bridge inspector, and he is the reason the arch holds — the one stone the rest trust. Marko locks into an immovable stance and holds: buildings, barricades, panicking crowds, he has held them all. He has never once been moved against his will. He is very polite about it.
Happening now
The Foundry span is swaying in the gale and Marko is at the mid-arch, locked in, being the still point the whole bridge leans on. The inspectors are taking readings off his shoulders. He is apologizing to the rivets. The rivets are holding.
