The living story
The story so far
It has died more times than any animal alive, and never once stayed dead. When starved, hurt, or simply done, the Immortal Jellyfish collapses into a polyp — a baby version of itself — and begins again. The Twilight's elders have stopped counting its lives; the Jellyfish itself never started.
Happening now
It pulses through the currents in its newest body, young again for the hundredth time. The young jellies follow it the way students follow a teacher who has failed every exam and passed life instead.
What may come
Immortality has a price the songs don't mention: it remembers every life, and every life ended badly enough to start over. One day it may choose to stay grown. The Twilight holds its breath for that day.
