The story so far
Demeter searched the whole world for Persephone with a torch that never went out, and when she learned the truth, she simply stopped the harvest. The gods negotiated; the seasons were the compromise.
Happening now
The Eleusinian rites are hers, and initiates still whisper what they saw. She has been teaching mortals agriculture again — patiently, the way you teach someone you plan to outlive.
What may come
Every spring is a reunion; every autumn a goodbye. The songs say one year the goodbye will be final, and the wheat will have to learn to grow without her.
