The living story
The story so far
Scylla was a nymph loved by Glaucus; in the later telling, Circe, jealous, poisoned her pool, and Scylla grew six heads with dogs at her waist. She took six of Odysseus's men — he chose her over Charybdis, the lesser math.
Happening now
She still haunts the strait opposite Charybdis, and sailors still choose: six men to Scylla, or everything to the whirlpool. The math hasn't changed.
What may come
Heracles killed her once, and she was restored — some horrors are load-bearing. The strait needs its teeth.
