“It’s going slowly.”
A Mirewater reptile of The River Tyrants

The living story
The story so far
He was named before his personality arrived — "Snatch" seemed right for a mugger hatchling. Then he grew up, discovered mangoes, and became the river’s most enthusiastic frugivore. The name stuck. The irony stuck harder.
Happening now
He runs the riverbank orchard — mango, fig, jamun — planted over a decade, one fruit at a time. The whole riverbank eats from it. He keeps the harvest ledger. He gives the best fruit away. "The tree doesn’t eat," he says. "Neither should the planter, mostly."
What may come
He has petitioned, three times, to be renamed "Harvest." The council keeps tabling it. "Snatch has brand recognition," Bifocal ruled, consulting the Logbook. He’s appealing. The orchard grows. The name endures.

Why someone keeps Snatch
- because a croc named Snatch who grows mangoes is the best irony
- because "the tree doesn’t eat, neither should the planter, mostly"
- because the "Harvest" petition is pending and we’re all rooting for it
The River Tyrants
The river tyrants: crocodiles, alligators, caimans, gharials — the ambush perfected over eighty million years. Fifteen smiles, every one of them full of teeth.

- Personality
- Named for the species, known for the opposite. Snatch the mugger is the gentlest croc on the river — a vegetarian-leaning, fruit-eating softie who once apologized to a fish. The name is ironic. The gentleness is not. He’s working on a rebrand.
