The living story
The story so far
He was born in New Guinea’s Fly River, where the water runs tea-brown and the snouts run long. As a hatchling he discovered he could breathe without being seen, and immediately understood the tactical implications. He has been a submarine ever since.
Happening now
He runs the river’s stealth courier service — messages moved underwater, undetected, unbothered. His clients include half the riverbank. His motto: "What surface?" The herons have filed complaints. The complaints went underwater.
What may come
He is designing the Snorkel Mark II — a longer snout, he claims, "for deeper stealth." Engineers (the beaver kind) are skeptical. Snorkie is undeterred. "They laughed at the first snorkel too," he says. Nobody laughed. That’s his point.

- because he’s a submarine and he knows it
- because "what surface?" is the best motto in the Mirewater
- because the Snorkel Mark II is coming, skeptics be damned

- Personality
- The only turtle with a pig nose, and he works it. Snorkie’s snorkel-snout lets him breathe while barely surfacing — a trick he uses for stealth, for snacking, and, primarily, for startling herons. He thinks he’s a submarine.
