The story so far
Furrow weaves at the river's edge, where the water never stops talking and she never stops listening. She keeps a ledger of every debt owed in her stretch of the bank — a minnow here, a favor there — and one secret she has never told the river.
Happening now
She is repairing the lower quadrant of her web where a jumping fish tore through at dawn. The ripple is named. The debt is logged. The secret remains unspoken.
What may come
The river will freeze, and Furrow will retreat into the leaf litter with her sac, her ledger, and her secret intact. When the thaw comes, the river will ask again. She will not tell.
