The living story
The story so far
She was spinning silk in the Carboniferous coal forests, three hundred million years ago, when dragonflies had the wingspan of hawks and the air itself was a different recipe. Arthrolycosa remembers the first time a thread held her weight. She has trusted silk ever since, the way you trust the floor.
Happening now
She keeps a quiet corner of the Unspun's gathering and repairs nothing, because nothing she made has ever needed repairing — the design was finished three hundred million years ago. Young orbweavers bring her their broken webs like patients. She diagnoses them in one glance.
What may come
There are whispers of new Arthrolycosa fossils in undisclosed rock, and she pretends not to listen. But she has started polishing her spinnerets, the way one polishes good silver before company.
