Jabuti

Jabuti sets the table on her own trunk. The jabuticaba fruits directly from the bark — dark purple globes studding the trunk like grapes on a vine that forgot about vines — and harvest is simply a matter of walking up and picking. No ladders, no climbing, no ceremony: the tree serves itself. The Deep Root's gatherings end at her trunk more often than the faction admits, the war-captain included, all dignity abandoned over handfuls of sweet-tart fruit. "Other trees make you work for it," she says, jeweling her bark a deeper purple. "I never saw the point of making dinner difficult." Her flowers are small white stars that open straight from the wood; her shade is generous. What the roots know, the crown never says — but her crown, studded purple-black, is saying plenty, and the whole faction is listening with full mouths.
