The story so far
The head is the door. Turtle ant soldiers evolved heads shaped exactly like the nest entrance — round, flat, armored — and when danger comes, they walk into the doorway and plug it with their faces. Nothing passes. Doorkeeper is the Devil's Garden's threshold-keeper: the nest entrances, the Garden gates, the doors everyone knocks on. They are small and absolutely final. The Root-Deep once sent an envoy to negotiate passage; Doorkeeper listened politely, plugged the door, and waited. The envoy is still waiting, philosophically.
