The story so far
The first boto swam the open river in daylight and was laughed at by the caimans for his pinkness — so he dove and asked the night to teach him the first Veiling. Encantado has been trading on that lesson ever since. He runs the Cathedral's ferry service and insists, to anyone who will listen, that it is a prank and not a ferry. He and Pirarucu argue without end about whether the flood is a blessing or a siege; he is charmingly, infuriatingly right both ways. The Tupi festival story is his favorite rumor about himself, and he has never once denied it.
