The story so far
The glass knifefish cannot see in the tea-dark water, so it makes its own light — not light, exactly, but a faint electric field, and reads the distortions like braille. Glasswave is Poraquê's protégé and the electric guild's gentlest member: where the master holds 860 volts in reserve, the student holds barely a whisper, and hears more. They once got caught in a cave-in; the hum stopped for a week across the whole Veil — Poraquê's doing, though neither speaks of it. They read people the way they read water: by the shape of the distortion.
