The story so far
The crested eagle is rarer than the harpy and harder to find — a true forest eagle hunting monkeys and sloths through the canopy, seen mostly as a rumor of wings. Highplume cultivates the rumor: she appears where she is needed, pronounces little, and is always right. She and Coronach are the Crown's two aristocrats — he presides, she hunts — and their mutual respect is the most formal thing in the Green. Stumpghost is the only one she considers a peer in watching; the slits, she says, miss nothing, which from her is high praise.
