The story so far
The bushmaster is the Americas' longest pit viper and its most paradoxical: a three-meter ambush predator that lays eggs and then — almost alone among vipers — stays, guarding the nest until the young hatch. Muta's court is built on that paradox: absolute solitary power, absolute maternal duty. Against Burrowlord's commonwealth of the many-plated she offers the one-fanged alternative — no committees, no tenancies, one will, perfectly still. Backbirth mediates; Muta yields to the toad-mother the way a drawn bow yields to the hand that holds it — which is to say, completely, and only to her. The faction respects three things: patience, armor, and a good hole. Muta is all patience, wears no armor, and needs no hole.
