The living story
The story so far
Bandit is the trickster of the desert, thriving in every place humans said he couldn't. He has outsmarted traps, fences, and three separate wildlife agencies, and his file — yes, he has a file — lists him as 'unusually persistent.' His yip at dusk is either laughter or a warning. Possibly both. Probably both.
Happening now
He has started leaving things at the edge of the ranch: a feather, a bottle cap, a single clean bone. The rancher's kid collects them. Bandit watches from the ridge. Nobody knows what the game is. Bandit knows.
What may come
A new highway is cutting through his territory. Bandit has been studying the culverts the way a general studies maps. The engineers don't know it yet, but the culverts are his now.
