The Wind Earl's herald: deer-bodied, bird-headed, sparrow-hawked, who ran before the winds in the Classic of Mountains and Seas and was later written into the Shang dynasty's fall as a loyalist demon — history's way of punishing the losing side's weather. He outran the slander. The winds still answer to the old name.
