The living story
Fangtithe taught her how to wait. Gum taught her how to listen. When the two wilds met, they did not make a louder huntress — they made a quieter one, whose emerald plates catch the sun like river-stones and whose sap drips smell faintly of honey and thunder.
Sapfang has marked a new territory: a ring of mossy stones at the edge of the Canopy. She paces it each dawn, re-pressing her sap-palm to the old trees so no trespass goes unnoticed.
The banyans have begun dropping leaves in her path on purpose. Sapfang believes the old trees are writing her a map, and she has only just begun to read it.
