“She tastes the wind on her wrists before she trusts it.”
her wrists

Rare · One of 25
Her signature behavior: every dawn she tastes the wind on her gold-banded wrists, paints a fresh blue crossing-mark on her shoulders, and walks the route ahead of the troop so no one walks it alone.

The living story
Born of Gust — who flies straight into headwinds and never around — and Riverstela, keeper of the river crossings, Siltwing inherited her father's fearlessness and her mother's careful hands. As a child she would run to the river's edge during storms and stand laughing in the spray, painting crossing-marks in wet silt that the wind kept trying to erase. The troop learned to follow her lines and stopped losing stragglers in the flood season.
The rains have been hard this season and the old crossings keep shifting. Siltwing walks each new ford at dawn, her gold bands catching first light, and paints the safe line before the troop wakes.
Some say she is charting a new crossing none of them have ever needed — a road that spans not just river or storm, but the space between the universes themselves.
