“Her mother's wave is in her blood — but her antennae heard a mood no one was saying, and that is what made the wave brave.”
The Graintiger's wave

Her signature behavior: she raises one clawed paw in greeting to every stranger she meets, because the bravest thing a spark can do is say hello first.

The living story
Born of Pepper Graintiger of the Purring Dark and the Trench Shrimp of Oceanana, Snowgrain inherited her mother's fearless swagger and her other parent's deep-sea antennae. Where most sparks guard themselves, she does the opposite: she leads with a wave and lets her antennae catch whatever the world sends back.
Snowgrain has appointed herself the official greeter of the Thornwild Snowfall, the seam where the jungle's edge meets the falling white. She stands at the crossroads and waves — at traders, at drifters, at shadows that haven't decided whether they're coming or going.
The roads whisper that Snowgrain is mapping an invisible thing — a chart of every mood her antennae have ever caught, from grief to joy to the strange stillness before a storm. When it is finished, she says, no one will ever have to walk into a room feeling alone again.

The Graintiger's wave
“On still nights, her antennae bend toward the deep sea and hold perfectly still. She says the trench is remembering something, and listening costs her nothing.”
The trench signal
“The bolt on her forehead only glows when she greets someone who doesn't greet back. She has never told anyone this.”
