The living story
The first serpent of the storm. Born of Ringlet's polished calm and Voltjelly's electric drift, Voltring inherited the orange ring — perfect, unpainted, checked eleven times daily — and the storm's unfinished voice. From her mother she learned stillness; from her father she learned that stillness is only the pause between lightning strikes.
Voltring is coiled at the edge of a clearing as the storm rolls in, orange ring glinting, tentacles lifting into the wind. She's writing again. The static spells the first letter of something — then waits, flickering, for the thunder to finish the sentence.
On the next great storm night, her tentacles will spell a full sentence for the first time. What it says, no one knows — but the other Sparks of the kindled series say the whole sky will lean in to read it.

“Watch her tentacles when the wind rises. The sparks bloom into shapes — almost letters, almost words. She writes to someone she hasn't met yet.”
the static letters
“She doesn't fear the storm; she hums with it. Her mother coiled in the quiet; her father drifted through thunder. Voltring is the place where the two met.”
