Their signature moment: pausing mid-leap, pouches bulging with a whole weather system, then letting it go in one perfectly aimed puff — a storm delivered, never dropped.

The story so far

Windfall was born where Skyhold's highest branches meet the weather the kapok makes — a young keeper who inherited Skyhold's patience and Chestnut's appetite. The Warren elders say the first thing Windfall ever gathered was a raincloud, mid-storm, at roughly the age when most sparks are still learning to walk. Skyhold is said to have watched the whole thing without moving a single root, which for Skyhold is the equivalent of thunderous applause.

Happening now

Windfall runs the canopy's weather delivery — catching falling storms in their great cheek pouches and carrying them to the dry corners of the forest, releasing each in a careful measured puff. The kapok parliament has officially scheduled its loudest debates around Windfall's delivery route, because nobody wants to argue policy with a storm in somebody's cheek.

What may come

One day the pouches will hold more than weather — a migratory flock's worth of wind, a whole monsoon season, a thunderhead big enough to shade a city. Windfall is practicing by catching drizzle first, and has not yet dropped a single drop.

Whispers about Windfall

“A Crown parliament guard swears Windfall's cheek-pouches hum before a storm arrives — the low kind of hum that makes the whole kapok vibrate.”

Ask which cloud is being saved. Watch the grin.

“The Warren elders keep a betting pool on how many acorns could fit in Windfall's pouches alongside the weather. Chestnut refuses to demonstrate, which everyone agrees is unprecedented.”

Follow the humming.

“On the clearest day of the year, Windfall was seen patting one bulging pouch like a promise — and Skyhold, watching from seventy meters, did not move, which the canopy reads as pride.”

Some storms are worth keeping.
