The story so far
Argentavis magnificens — 'magnificent Argentine bird' — weighed as much as a grown person and flew like a sailplane, riding Andean thermals six million years ago. Soarmax is the oldest bird in the Undertow old enough to remember being the biggest thing with feathers, and he wears the seniority lightly. The young giants — Crest's whole social circle — actually listen to him, which he finds both gratifying and exhausting. His counsel is always the same: 'The thermal is patience. Everything else is flapping.'
