The story so far
The female Black Dragonfish is a sleek hunter with a glowing chin barbel she waves like a lantern. The male is a fraction of her size, with no working jaw and no lure — he exists to find a female and not much else. The Twilight has stopped pretending this is fair; the females certainly have.
Happening now
The females run the middle dark's lure trade, their barbels swaying along the migration lanes. The males drift nearby, tiny and hopeful, in the Twilight's most lopsided romance.
What may come
Evolution is still negotiating the terms. The females grow bolder each generation; the males grow smaller. The Twilight's matchmakers have given up and now just watch.
