The story so far
It is the Rattail's deeper cousin, and it took the family business down with it. The Trench Grenadier cruises the trench slopes in its slow patrol, barbels sweeping for the chemical scent of carrion, arriving exactly when the falls need it — which is to say, eventually, and always in time.

It works the slopes below the queen's throne, a steady presence in the thin snow. The swarms strip the big falls; the Grenadier handles the slopes. The patrol has never missed a shift.
What may come
