The story so far
It doesn't eat — not really. The Vent Mussel's gills are packed with chemosynthetic bacteria that drink the vent's poison and exhale food straight into its tissue. It sits in clusters on the chimney's flank, breathing poison and calling it farming, and it has never been hungry a day in its life.
