The living story
The story so far
Hestia was the firstborn of Cronus and Rhea, swallowed first and disgorged last — oldest and youngest at once. In the later tellings, when Dionysus needed a throne, she quietly gave him hers and went back to tending the fire.
Happening now
She tends the great hearth at the center of Olympus, and every smaller hearth everywhere else. The gods bring their quarrels to her fire and leave them there.
What may come
The songs say that if every hearth in the world went out at once, Hestia would finally have to choose a favorite. She has made it clear this will never happen.
