The living story
The story so far
Python guarded the oracle at Delphi since before the gods, until the infant Apollo — four days old — shot her with his first arrows. He took the shrine and the title Pythian; her ghost got the incense.
Happening now
Her spirit is said to linger in the adyton, fact-checking the priestess's verses. Apollo pretends not to notice the corrections.
What may come
The games at Delphi are still called Pythian in her honor — the only memorial a slain monster ever got from her slayer.
