The living story

The story so far

He arrived at court already burning, and nobody has ever seen him cool down. The other hot Jupiters treat him with the respect of people standing near a furnace. He has never once been invited to sit near anyone, and he has never once asked.

Happening now

His star is boiling him away, and the Court's astronomers give him an expiration date the way you give a terminal patient flowers. He has responded by burning brighter, which is either defiance or denial. The Primordial Suns' convergence does not frighten him; he claims to be their peer.

What may come

If the Suns converge on something, KELT-9b will be the first to walk into the fire to see it. Whether anything walks back out is an open question. The Court is already rehearsing its eulogy, which he would hate.
