The story so far
'Oumuamua was spotted in 2017 as the first confirmed object from another star system ever seen in ours. Long, red, and tumbling end over end, it refused to behave like any local comet, and astronomers argued about it for years while it never answered a single question.
Happening now
It is already past Saturn's orbit and leaving, moving too fast for the Sun to ever hold it. The Wanderers held a farewell party it did not attend, and it sent one last light-curve flicker that may have been a wave, or may have been nothing.
What may come
It will drift the galaxy for millions of years, perhaps forever. Some Wanderers hope to cross its path in the dark between stars, but most likely it will never be seen again — which is exactly how it likes it.
