The story so far
She hatched in a mangrove nursery during a cyclone, and the storm — defeated by her indifference — named her. She has been the estuary’s final word ever since: disputes end where she floats.
Happening now
She practices what the river calls "the long float" — drifting motionless for days, watching everything, missing nothing. Her intelligence network is the water itself. Fish report to her. The tide reports to her. She barely moves.
What may come
She is teaching her daughters the long float now: how to be still, how to listen to water, how to be the thing the river consults. "Power," she tells them, "is just patience that grew teeth."
