The living story
The story so far
He does not have a burrow — he has a route. Brushfoot is a traveling gentleman of the night, wandering with feathery feet and knocking on burrow doors like a salesman with nothing to sell but himself.
Happening now
He is mid-knock on a female's burrow right now, tapping out his distinctive rhythm on her trapdoor. She knows exactly who it is. She is pretending to be asleep. He is pretending to believe her.
What may come
Some night, some door will open, and his wandering will become a family. His sons will inherit the feathery feet and the knock, and the night will belong to them too.
