The living story
The story so far
Spiny hatched with six spikes on a body the size of a lentil, and she has been daring the world to try her ever since. Birds have tried. Birds have regretted it. Her silhouette is a warning label she wears to breakfast.
Happening now
She is sitting dead center in her orb at the garden's edge, spikes catching the moonlight, daring anything with wings to make a mistake. A moth just did. Spiny is not available for comment.
What may come
She will lay her egg sac on the underside of a leaf and guard it until she cannot anymore. The spikes will not help the babies. But they will inherit the attitude, which is honestly the better armor.
